Teaching Mom to be cool!

Everyday Landon amazes Scot and I with his new discoveries and ever expanding personality! Landon is incredibly laid back...takes in the sites and carefully decides which items are worth his time. Yesterday during our music time, I decided to spice it up with Salsa music. Landon sits on the floor staring at me in disbelief as I dance. He gives me no smile, grin, or laugh, then our smart boy shakes his head "no" (his new found form of communication) at me. At 8 months, he is already finding his Mom an embarrassment!

Landon's newest addition to his Toy Land! His room is beginning to look like a carnival.

Oh Boy!

Landon is currently introducing Mom into an entirely different level of "boyhood". I understand the boy toys and messiness, hey, I grew up with classic brothers. But what's with the bumps and bruises already? Since the scooting started, he has lost his patience. When he sees something, he wants it now and will proceed through any obstacle (gates, dogs, shoes, and now doors). Here's the quick play-by-play: Typical Wednesday morning, Landon and I are playing on the floor in his room. What catches his eye?..... the tile (oh, to be a kid again and find amusement anywhere)! So, off he goes as fast as his scoot will take him. He attempts to move the door out of his way and SMACK right to his little head. As you can now picture, I run over in a panic (mentally processing what to do for a head trauma) and pick him up to survey the damage (of my poor mothering skills.....the guilt sets in as the red mark grows), I expect tears, crying, maybe a wail. He just looks at me, like I'm crazy for interrupting his mission, and smiles. Well, needless to say his injury was not nearly as bad as I assumed it would and his little mark was gone within an hour. Landon is clearly much braver than his Mom. I need to start preparing myself as he gets older......football, driving AHHHH! Keep the Aspirin ready 'cause the chest pain may set in! Thank goodness for Scot, he's the calm , levelheaded one!!

Check out his right eyebrow!!! Brave Landon!

Busy Days!

Feeling way behind on updating our blog!!

We spent last week with our family from New Mexico. We filled our days relaxing, swimming, becoming experts on the Olympic games, and of course, playing and playing with Landon. Landon's Uncle Anth, Aunt Kori, Uncle Jeremy, and Aunt Jenna were able to come by for family fun and good food. Landon was completely smitten with his Nannie, Aunt Holly, and cousin Jackie. He was lovin' the attention and decided to take up waving that week, so he was always waving "hi" and "bye" to them.

Hope to have all of you back in town for Thanksgiving!! Love you!

Children's Art Museum

We took Landon to the Children's Art Museum today. It was so much fun and it was a complete hands on experience, which is great for our busy little boy!! Landon created his 1st painting. He was so excited to get messy and have paint all over his hands.

His little mind was on exploration overload, seeing all the new colors, touching interesting textures, playing with new toys, and trying to understand art. He was so intrigued by everything around. Scot and I loved to watch his expressions change constantly.

His new found skill of crawling helped his exploration process and he loved having the opportunity to move around and see everything from his perspective....the floor. Landon's favorite exhibit was the pretend grocery store. He kept trying to eat the plastic foods and was so excited to pick up all the boxes. We definitely plan on making more family trips to this museum!

Landon's going mobile!

The chase has officially started. Landon started crawling this week. He eased Mom and Dad into it, just an occasional scoot to an item he can't live without, and in a matter of 2 days he now crawls and scoots everywhere. We will definitely be getting more exercise as he explores the house that needs much more baby-proofing!

Landon's teeth just keep on coming. His is working on his 3rd tooth, he has 1 on the top and 1 on the bottom. He has the cutest jack-o-lantern smile (or jack-o-Landon, as Scot and I say). He is getting great use of those teeth and loves to chew, especially his puff snacks. He ate an entire bowl in one sitting. We introduced him to the art of brushing his teeth and he loves to do it himself.....glad to see our boy is taking an interest in hygiene already!

Happy 50th Birthday Dad!

A milestone birthday with a lifetime of memories! We celebrated my Dad's (Landon's Tata) 50th birthday in Mexico. We all had an amazing time.....jellyfish stings, ambulance ride, dancing with the mariachis, and don't forget all the shopping on the beach. Just great family times with lots laughter and moments that we will always cherish.
Landon had a wonderful time with his family! He was constantly entertained and showered with love from his Tata, Nana, GramGram, Uncles Vinny, Anth, Tanner, Jake, and Aunts Bella and Kori. He was bored when we came home and didn't have a playmate constantly at his service.
Thanks for an amazing vacation! Love you all!

Look out Tooth Fairy!

Landon changes and changes everyday! Friday he started sprouting one tooth.....and by Sunday he has another one following! His sweet gummy grin will soon be a mouth full of teeth. Landon is being very brave and gets a little fussy, but settles down well when he sucks on an ice cube!

City Boy!!

Scot and I went shopping at a farmer's market this morning and took Landon into the petting zoo. He is definitely a "city boy". He does well with the typical dog and cat pets, but when we threw in the sheep baaaas, duck quacking, and chicken clucking, he wanted nothing to do with it. He was perfectly content with watching the sleeping pig and enjoyed petting the rabbits for about 2 seconds, then wanted out of the animal area. Guess life on a farm is not in our future any time soon!! That's our boy!

Never a dull moment....

Landon is a busy boy! He loves to be social! Took him shopping and of course, our excursions aren't complete until Lan has picked out a new toy. He choose a snake (Becca and Beckett will appreciate his choice) and wouldn't let it leave his side, he even took it to swim practice.

Our weekends aren't complete until Landon gets in some play time with his family and friends. This weekend he spent time with his Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Marc and, of course, Sydney.

Landon played and played and played, until he just couldn't keep his eyes open any longer.

Landon starting saying "Dada" this week. Scot couldn't believe his ears and was so thrilled to hear his son call him. It's so fun to hear Landon learning to talk and trying to form new words. Who knows what he'll say next!

He is so overwhelmed with curiosity! You just see the wheels turning in his head with wonder. This morning Landon was a big helper.......while Mom put away his diapers, he took them out! When Mom put laundry in his basket, he tipped it all the way over and put a book in. Ha! He is so funny and keeps us laughing!!

4th of July weekend!

Wow! We had a busy weekend. Landon was quite the partier. We started the weekend with lots of swimming and playing. We gave Landon his 1st hair trim, he loves to have his hair styled.

We had a BBQ at Grandma and Papa's house with Uncle Anthony and Aunt Kori.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any fireworks, but we played in the rain!

We topped off our weekend with another BBQ with friends, and of course Landon's BFF, Sydney, was there for more playtime.

Watch me swim!

Mom and Dad think that I am part fish. I love swimming, especially kicking my legs and making big splashes! I'm pretty much the best swimmer in my swim class.....I don't cry when I go under water like the other kids do.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNCLE VINCE!!

Today is my uncle's birthday. Mom and I brought him lunch at his office and he let me eat and destroy his sandwich! Love you Uncle Vinny!! Hope you have a great day!

Learning to whistle...

Thanks to my Grandma D I now know how to whistle!! I just pucker up and blow, I actually make a whistle noise (I can carry quite a tune). Mom laughs every time, she is so amazed at all the tricks I can do.
That picture is me whistling a melody for Mom while she does her hair!!
