Heart of Gold

Every parents knows the ins and outs of their precious child, but when someone witnesses the random gracious acts, that sets a new luminance to the tone of their sweet child.  This week at school, when Scot was picking up Landon, Ms.Francis pulled Scot aside to have a chat.  She went on to tell Scot that today in class there was a new student doing her "shadow day" (meaning a test run of the school).  Landon, without any prompting, approached the new girl grabbed her hand and escorted her around the class.  I can envision him asking her her name and where she lives, his 2 favorite questions when he meets someone new.  Ms. Francis said Landon held her hand the whole day, including on the playground, making her feel comfortable and pointing out the important things she would need to be aware of....as Scot and I had done on his first day of school.  His teacher was so overcome by seeing this random act of kindness from a child; she was absolutely touched.  To add a little more sugar to the story, Landon had a conversation with Ms. Francis, saying, "Your my best buddy and favorite teacher in the class.".

We always see this kind, sensitive side to Landon and know it is something so special about him.  He loves to cuddle and is quick with compliments, recognizing emotions, and overflowing with "I love you so much" as he holds your face in his hands.  He has a heart of gold, a gentle yet strong soul, and words that make us melt.  It was only a matter of time before others got to witnesses the many qualities Landon has to offer and brilliantly show!! We are so proud of him!

Moments…

Last night Landon grabs the camera, saying, “I’ll say action, you guys do something, and I’ll take a picture.  Do it!”  and with wild laughter we snapped our crazy family moments, that only we could laugh at!!

  

Picture Perfect

The final touch on Landon’s “Beach Party” themed room……a canvas print Maui wave.  The picture is over 6 1/2 feet long and is the perfect compliment to his huge room and walls.  With the lights dimmed low, the room transcends into such a calm, peaceful place for Landon to rest.  This is our newest favorite piece in our home!!

Partyin’ Like a Rock Star!!

Party extravaganza over the weekend, celebrating Landon’s friends, Keenan and Carson turning 3!!  Keenan’s party rocked all of Friday night!  I missed some some fabulous photo op moments, as I forgot my camera.  Keenan’s mom cleared out the garage and decorated it wall to wall to mimic a dance club.  These kids were bustin’ a move with strobe lights, glow sticks in hand to the loud pop-music playing DJ……this party was fantastic!!! We had to pry Landon out of there at 9pm and he was still energized to keep the party going. 

Saturday Landon celebrated his best buddy’s birthday at the McCormick Stillman Railroad Park.  Thrilled to keep his party mojo, he played hard and loved having 2 days hanging with his little neighborhood crew!!

We Will Never Forget…..

We will never forget the men and women who risk their lives each day for us with selfless bravery. We will never forget the people who lost their precious lives or  families missing loved ones.   We will never forget the tear stained faces of grieving families and never know their agony.  We will never forget to pray for them.  We will never forget the blessing bestowed upon us. WE WILL NEVER FORGET TO SAY “THANK YOU”.

Homemade

My first sewing adventure: beach towel pillows for Landon’s bed.  Wanting to learn to sew, my wonderful and patient mom, brought over her sewing machine and we went to work.  I got a tutorial on the machine, tools, and proper terminology.  I discovered my great-grandmother was a master sewer and the ladies in her day held “Sewing Bees”, where the women of the community got together to sew and discuss men.  Sewing with my mom was a wonderful and hilarious bonding session; a definite must for us to keep doing together!! 

Not bad, for my first attempt!   Landon leapt into bed, that night, insisting he sleep on all his “hotel pillows”.  The beach towels give his bed a cute little cabana feel and goes perfect in his room!

Hurry up and be Fall, already!!!

105 degrees outside but my house is gearing up for the cooler season!!  Crafts and decorations for Halloween have begun….it’s never to early to celebrate!  Each year we complain that our Halloween decorations are being put away too soon.  So why not enjoy this season a little longer by decorating now, I say.

35 Days and Counting

Our countdown to Disneyland is on!!  I made Landon a “chain link calendar” and each night he tears off a link cheering that it is almost time to visit the Magical Kingdom!!
